The University of Leicester is a public university in England founded in 1921. The main campus is located south of the city center, next to Victoria Park.

The university has established as the UK’s leading research university and was named the University of the Year in 2008 by Times Higher Education magazine. In the Times Higher Education 2020 ranking, it is in the top 25 universities in the UK. It was also awarded Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework and is in the top 100 most innovative universities in Europe (Reuters). The University of Leicester is the only university that received the Times Higher Education Award for seven consecutive years. In 2016, the university was ranked 24th by The Complete University Guide and 32nd by The Guardian. In the REF 2014 ranking, the University of Leicester was ranked 49th out of 126 universities.
